We exchanged presence for paychecks, and the ledger does not balance in favor of the heart. The real cost has been measured not in dollars, but in lost bedtime stories, family dinners, and the daily shaping of young souls.

As conservatives who have always understood the family to be the indispensable foundation of a free and flourishing society, we must have the courage to ask the uncomfortable question: How many other modern “upgrades” have we normalized without counting their true human toll—especially the quiet erosion of time spent with those we love most?
